Meta is enhancing its chatbot, Meta AI, with a memory feature and personalised recommendations. The bot, available on Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp in the US and Canada, can now remember user-provided details, such as dietary preferences, to deliver tailored responses.
It will also draw on account information from Meta’s platforms, like Facebook and Instagram, for personalised suggestions. However, the feature doesn’t apply to group chats, and users can delete stored memories.
Critics have raised concerns about Meta’s history of data privacy issues, as there’s no option to opt out of personalised recommendations, potentially challenging user trust in these updates.
