Leading tech companies, including TikTok, Snapchat, and Stability AI, have united in a commitment to combat artificial intelligence-generated child abuse imagery.
This pledge, supported by 27 signatories such as the UK, US, Germany, and Australia, was announced by Britain ahead of a global AI safety summit. The joint statement emphasised the signatories' intention to harness responsible AI against child exploitation, vowing continuous collaboration to manage AI-related risks.
The urgency of the commitment is underscored by data from the Internet Watch Foundation, which found almost 3,000 AI-created child abuse images on a single dark web platform. IWF's Susie Hargreaves emphasised the need to preemptively address this growing concern.
