Google and Samsung have partnered to enter the mixed-reality market, unveiling Android XR, an operating system for extended reality, alongside Samsung’s Project Moohan headset, set to launch in 2024. Android XR integrates AI to support tasks such as virtual assembly instructions and immersive navigation.
Samsung’s headset offers lighter, more comfortable wear compared to Apple’s Vision Pro, at an expected lower price. The platform supports apps like Maps, YouTube, and Chrome, and allows third-party app development.
Google is also developing XR glasses under Project Astra, featuring advanced AI and microLED technology, though no release date has been set for these devices.
